BRAIN POWER FEATURES AND YOUR PREFERENCES

The Brain Power System is the world’s first wearable educational tool for people with autism. The system is based in brain science from MIT and Harvard and is built on smart glass technology like Google Glass. Children look through smart glasses rather than down at a screen, keeping them heads-up, hands-free, and engaged. We enable them to see their world in an entirely new way: aided by software that helps them interpret their environment and social situations.

For instance, our “eye contact coach” module re-writes faces as cartoon characters such as Olaf or Spongebob, catching the children’s attention more than the average human face. When they look, the face returns and they receive points for making eye contact. We transform learning life skills into video games - they are inherently fun and trigger children's natural instinct to play, and to improve.

Beyond eye contact, we have a dozen+ modules for other practical life skills such as emotion-decoding, language, controlling behaviors, conversation skills, and many more. Our apps are fun and engaging, and even kids who refuse to wear sunglasses often love our system. Over 200 children and adults, low and high functioning, have tried and ejoyed our prototype system! For the items below, please assume they will all work for your child.

How important to you is each of the modules/features below? (Your answers will help us get families like yours what you want most, soonest.) (1 = uninmportant, 7 = extremely important)

Modules

   Eye-Contact Coach (cartoonified face game)

Attention Coach (visual & auditory coaching to look, e.g. when name is called)

Emotion Decode (realtime decode of others' emotions)

Emotion Game (fun game to teach and measure emotion recognition)

Breathe Easy (stress-triggered visual & auditory coach for relaxation-inducing breathing)

Automatic Timeout (rocking triggers a customizable cartoon movie clip and soft music, to provide a private time-out)

Physical Exercise Coach (stress-relief exercises; performance is measured via Glass's motion sensor)

Personal Language Tutor (When wearer looks at objects, sees and hears the words. Turns the world into live flashcards)

Turn-Taking coach (ongoing feedback on % of conversation dominated, and time between turns)

Voice Loudness coach (alerts the wearer/speaker when too loud or soft for surrounds/context)

Tantrum & Meltdown Predictor (based on changes in heart, blink, and breathing rates, environmental changes, and patterns of the particular child, the computer calculates the risk and alerts the parent)

Features

Numerical Weekly Progress Reports (objective and data-driven)

Customizability for your Child (learning algorithms to tailor the software to each unique child)
